Cut each rhizome into pieces 2-3 inches long, ensuring each piece has 2-3 buds. Let the cut pieces sit out uncovered for 2-3 days until the ends look dried out.

Harvest

Harvesting and Storing You can harvest turmeric after 7-9 months. Carefully dig up the rhizomes using a gardening fork. Cut off the leaves and roots. Rinse off excess dirt but don’t scrub the skin. Turmeric can be used fresh or boiled, dried, and ground into powder. Store dried turmeric in airtight containers.
